Male Violence Against Women Is Not Just a Private Problem, Let’s Recognize It and Resist It! (1994)

This was the first poster that Autonomous Women’s House Zagreb printed as part of a campaign to raise public awareness about intimate partner violence against women. The visual of the poster is an original work by the group Family Violence Prevention Fund.

The notice was published on December 22, 1990, in Vijesnik and Večernji list, requesting help for the Zagreb Women’s Shelter.

Requests to Relevant Institutions Before Opening the Shelter (1990)

We requested support from the relevant city institutions and demanded the following:

• An immediate shelter for women and children victims of violence
• Funding for the shelter from the city budget
• Social benefits for women and children during their stay at the shelter
• A separate space for the headquarters of “Women’s Help Now” and for the counseling center
• Funding for the activities of the SOS hotline for women and children victims of violence
• Priority for abused women and children in social services and the judiciary
