Autonomous Women’s House was part of the ad hoc coalition in 1995, advocating for women’s participation in elections and highlighting key issues for women’s rights. We presented demands for the establishment of a Ministry for Gender Equality, the introduction of quotas for gender parity in the Parliament, Government, government bodies, and other public institutions, prevention of all forms of violence against women, the abolition of the Government Office for Demographic Renewal, and the transfer of its funds to improve the economic and social status of women in Croatia. We also advocated for constant decision-making on women’s reproductive rights, government programs and measures to improve women’s economic independence and status, and against growing poverty, the burden of which is often carried by women.
The main message of the campaign was: it is not enough to have elections; we need to know whom and what to choose. Women of Croatia, let’s choose those parties and candidates who will represent our interests.
